Well, I finally finished Season One of Ugly Betty.
What can I say? It's totally a nice surprise, for me.
I mean,
I thought it was pretty good the first few episodes, kind of like a feel-good fairytale about an 'ugly' girl who's gonna get all the good stuff eventually.
But then it simply gets better.
That's what I like about American serials.
They're never your typical fairytales, rags-to-riches stories, but everything's just so believable and each character actually really matters and is so totally part of the story. Then there's the mystery, the suspense, the things are not quite as they seem, the twists, the hidden meanings.
It's just great!
And then,
some moments are like, really, totally, great.
I loved that episode on that Gucci swag Betty's friend saved for her.
"Fashion is good for the soul."
And stuff and stuff, and when Betty talked to her obviously really sexy sister about why their dead Mother gave her a handbag just like that when she was young and stuff, I was so so so like: OMG this serial seriously rocks.
What can I say?
Sometimes it's like family's the most important, probably even the one and only, truly important thing in one's life. Then why does some have to be sucky? Why could some people grow up literally showered in love and concern while others have to take all the shit on their own? Why do some people find their refuge in their homes, whereas for others all they have to fall back on is themselves.
Life's never easy.
My assumptions is that it's hard for everyone.
That's why we should never stop trying.
I love Ugly Betty!I mean,
I seriously think it's good to look good. If thin is in then we humans as social animals should not really deviate too far from the norm.
But something is sincerely wrong when your view of beauty is as narrow as that - As in, the idea of beauty is simply equivalent to THINness, to bones, eewwwww.
Hmm,
sometimes I wonder if boys worry about looks/ bodies/ have as much confidence/ image problems as girls does?
Budden maybe all we have to do is refocus.
Like what are the things that really matter in life.
And is it really fun chasing after some elusive shadow, coolness, trendiness, blah blah.
It's like if the whole world is sick you don't have to degrade yourself to be stupid with the rest of them.
Like, yeah???
As much as humans are social beings,
we also have our individual qualities unique to ourselves.
And as much as A Levels is not for humans,
well I'm God!
Ok, goddess. This is gonna be my attitude towards A Levels.
And already it's my attitude towards religion.
Religion is listening to the latest music, hunting about Singapore for good food, bitching around, reading books, worshipping movies, thinking about how freaking fabulous I am, and sleeping like crazy. WAHAHA!!!
Let's just end this entry with:
UGLY BETTY rocks.I love American serials! WOO.
HEROES, DARK ANGEL and The 4400 are all so incredibly good too.
;rock YOU.
