Another week's passed me by...

Watched Tennis and Soccer comps on Friday,

WAHHH Tennis is like seriously one of the chio-est sports EVERRR.

Had a wonderful time getting very amused by the erm, intellectually-challenged-looking Tan Tong Ling and Oscar-winning Mildred Yeo. WAHAHA

Sun behind the clouds...

Watched SCHINDLER'S LIST last night.

Won 7 Oscars. Another 62 wins & 21 nominations.

One of the highest rated films of ALL-TIME.

There were quite a bit of mention of The Holocaust in Freedom Writers, which was sway, and so I finally decided to watch Schindler's List. And I would have to say, it's like, you just can't absorb the atrocities of it all? Just imagine millions of faceless Jews slaughtered in front of your own eyes. Every few minutes in the film a man/ woman/ child gets his/ her HEAD blown off, robbed of life in an instant, body went limp, blood streaming for no apparent reason.

It's just hard to imagine, how can any man ever bear to do this.

In a BnW movie,
I think there is something about its only dash of colour - A girl wearing a red coat.

"Schindler identifies with the little girl in red, as she makes her way, aimless and alone, past the madness and chaos in the street.
An individual victim, lost. Schindler's soul is touched by the child, he feels her pain, cries for her. The plight of the one little girl in red touches him in a way the shear numbers make unreal, it is easy to get lost in numbers. He transforms the faceless mass around him into one real palpable human being. This one child is a symbol of all the 6.000.000 victims, exposed to ruthless slaughter. Each was an individual, who had dreams, who had a life, who had a family ..

While the girl is strolling unscathed while murder and brutality happen all around her, we see other stories forming or ending, but even in a telephoto view the viewer cannot take his eyes off the little red-tinted girl. She is the purity, the innocence, walking unnoticed through the Nazis, and witnessing their every crime. But the Nazis don't worry - at the end there will be no witnesses .. "

Whoever saves one life, saves the world entire.
I personally don't know what to make of THIS, yet.
It feels so UNREAL. And then when you think about it it was just decades ago.

HMMMMM

Currently reading:

Guns, Germs, and Steel: The Fates of Human Societies

"Why did Eurasians conquer, displace, or decimate Native Americans, Australians, and Africans, instead of the other way around? In this groundbreaking work, an evolutionary biologist dismantles racially-based theories and reveals the environmental factors actually responsible for history's broadest patterns. A whirlwind tour through 13,000 years of human history, beginning when Stone Age hunter-gatherers constituted the entire population. Here is a truly a world history, brilliantly written and radically new."

Pretty neat, after this I wanna follow up on these titles too:

HOHOHO

I like to be stimulated intellectually.

Passive entertainment KILLS me,
that's why I hate Asian dramas... RAWRRR

There's no suspense, no thrill, controversy, thoughtfulness, sophiscation, promiscuity =Pp that you find in American serials. ((=

I personally am just interested in VAST areas of knowledge, from Economics to Psychology to Philosophy to Religions (the critical aspect of it) to Sociology to Logic to History to Ancient Civilisations to Media to etc.

I figure,
it's my search for a holistic, wholesome truth, a sound reasonable answer to the question of being alive.

Reading books, watching videos and movies, finding out about things and thinking in retrospective reflection is my way of making sense of life, rather than, closing my eyes and pray. And accepting every answer from some ancient wisdom. (I'm refering to the B-Book.) WOO.

Actually, regarding the B-Book, hmm http://skepticsannotatedbible.com/ is certainly worth checking out. =Pp

I'll just end with COPY and PASTING some text from Deuteronomy 13.

13:6 If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, which is as thine own soul, entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers;

(13:6-10) "Thine hand shall be first upon him."If your brother, son, daughter, wife, or friend tries to get you to worship another god, "thou shalt surely kill him, thine hand shall be first upon him to put him to death."

I should so phone the police for 24/ 7 protection!

Now there are reasons why I rather spend my Sundays sleeping away,
dreaming of a good life.

I so wanna check out these 2 books as well.

An impassioned plea for reason in a world divided by faith.
This important and timely book delivers a startling analysis of the clash of faith and reason in today's world. Harris offers a vivid historical tour of mankind's willingness to suspend reason in favor of religious beliefs, even when those beliefs are used to justify harmful behavior and sometimes-heinous crimes. He asserts that in the shadow of weapons of mass destruction, we can no longer tolerate views that pit one true god against another. Most controversially, he argues that we cannot afford moderate lip service to religion—an accommodation that only blinds us to the real perils of fundamentalism. While warning against the encroachment of organized religion into world politics, Harris also draws on new evidence from neuroscience and insights from philosophy to explore spirituality as a biological, brain-based need. He calls on us to invoke that need in taking a secular humanistic approach to solving the problems of this world.Natalie Angier wrote in the New York Times: "The End of Faith articulates the dangers and absurdities of organized religion so fiercely and so fearlessly that I felt relieved as I read it, vindicated….Harris writes what a sizable number of us think, but few are willing to say."

Discover magazine recently called Richard Dawkins "Darwin's Rottweiler" for his fierce and effective defense of evolution. Prospect magazine voted him among the top three public intellectuals in the world (along with Umberto Eco and Noam Chomsky). Now Dawkins turns his considerable intellect on religion, denouncing its faulty logic and the suffering it causes. He critiques God in all his forms, from the sex-obsessed tyrant of the Old Testament to the more benign (but still illogical) Celestial Watchmaker favored by some Enlightenment thinkers. He eviscerates the major arguments for religion and demonstrates the supreme improbability of a supreme being. He shows how religion fuels war, foments bigotry, and abuses children, buttressing his points with historical and contemporary evidence. In so doing, he makes a compelling case that belief in God is not just irrational, but potentially deadly. Dawkins has fashioned an impassioned, rigorous rebuttal to religion, to be embraced by anyone who sputters at the inconsistencies and cruelties that riddle the Bible, bristles at the inanity of "intelligent design," or agonizes over fundamentalism in the Middle East—or Middle America.

I shouldn't say too much here because I'm not in America.

Off to homework-ing!
