刚到家 kind of @.@
就看了hotel rwanda 真是感慨万千 要不是mud-mud废话满篇我早就泪流满面了我
然后ng lang lang也跑来
其实偶看到一个part when the hotel manager could have just left everyone behind...
我是觉得 他应该留下来 cuz he has an obligation to these people.
the moment they turned to him,
the moment he took them in,
he was the person who knew how to take charge of things amid such chaos...
so,
he simply has an obligation to em by virtue of the fact that he is the only one who can save them,
ermmm you know.
like what we did for general paper arh,
i feel that develoepd countries have it upon em to help improve the quality of life in third world countries.
i mean,
the thing abt em is that,
they didn'teven do anything wrong. people are just disadvantaged from the start. without a proper education, they cant get decent employment. they dun have much life opportunities. and this is perfect for breeding ignorance and disillusion, this in turns leads to hatred for the rest of the world who's enjoying all these things they couldn't enjoy, hatred for people among em who are far-off better... because you deprive em of a chance to have a shot at it in the first place, you know.
i believe that you cant address the root of the problem by providing financial/ food/ material aid...
it has to be on the basis of a well-thought out economic development plan,
of providing employment for its adult population, and making sure their children all get educated, growing up learning the virtues of differences and etc.
and the thing abt these countries is that they have such awfully huge populations despite minimal resourcees lar.
cuz it's like,
if you know if you give birth to a child and a child's average lifespan would be like few years,
naturally the women will give birth to more...cuz they need helping hands in the farms and etc.
so it's just like somethign i wrote for e. geog long time ago,
why is education to women critical in these areas?
it helps em make sound decisions for their lives,
give em more life opportunities n routes - and not just marry any random guy and be an offspring-machine.
they can be employed,
they have a career to develop - increasing the tendency for em to marry later.
and since a women becomes less fertile as she grows older,
the no. of children they have will naturally decrease....
this helps with dealing with population explosion
and when they are educated,
they know of birth control methods - > even fewer no. of babies
they are aware of better healthcare for their childhood -> infant mortality decrease -> decreasing the need for as many babies as possible -> better quality of life for their child.
most imptly,
they can pass on what they know to their child and this is a POSITIVE cycle.
sometimes i feel like the only thing that's preventing me from stopping education altogether is the fact that, i constantly remind myself/ am reminded of the countless positive spillover effects brought abt..by just an educated person. =Pp
it's like,
why was paul the only one who could help?
because he knew the ways of the west,
and he's probably the most educated person in the area.
and etc.
it's just like,
when i read in a book abt some harvard graduate who created some company that emplyoed loads of people fromcambodia... i'm like,
if i'm a hell of a really capable person/ some really successful entrepreneur/ got a really good degree+job, this is what i wanna do.
it's like if there's anything you can do to make this world better,
just DO it!!! =DD
就我觉得 那些杀人凶手没有想过 自己的后代会以他们为耻吗?paul 真的很酷耶 超man的---i wanna watch THe COVENANT!saw it on rottentomatoes...coming to sg in nov. idiot lehs
;rock YOU.
