because sch rule dictates that i cannot keep my hair long vertically downi can only seek a change in direction, trying to keep it high vertically UP

smu's body length mirror...
damn chio lar!
LURRRRRRRRRRVE it
omg my skirt longest sia
so guai of me =X
woo! went to smu today.
pretty kewl.
if there's one uni i'd ever consider in singapore, it'd be smu.
set up by the wharton sch of business, which is consecutively ranked as the world's TOP BUSINESS COLLEGE. followed by harvard, stanford, etc...
but stanford is still da best.
berkeley is still da bomb. =Pp
jiu it was really fun siasss.
as usual,
we were to first to get on the bus
practically went there in light speed so that we could occupy our usual seats,
those back seats.
5, just right! =DD
hmm
actually i dun think anything is HARD in this world larrr.
once you think of it in terms of, I want this so so so badly I'm just going to get all out to make sure I get it, I'm going to ignore my fears overcome my weaknesses do all that I can, to the best of my abilities, in every mean possible, achieve my dream.
Nothing is impossible siasss.
An aspiring 8-pointer can end up in MJC...
AGAINST ALL ODDS
What else wouldn't happen? =Pp
I hate citing myself as an example. Sheesh. -_________-
Anyways, I really like the interactive environment, seminar-like style of those sessions.
I think that in this global age whereby everything is diffusing and coming together, tetrabytes of information are being transmitted almost instantaneously over fibre-optic cables, it is essential that one masters the skills of effective communication.
And seriously that is so not being done in Singapore,
or is it exclusively MJC?
My God lar.
I believe that everyone is a smart alec and talented in his/ her own ways.
What education should try to do is to provide us with the basis, the basics of tools to uncover our true inner potential. Education should be individual-centred, instead of focusing on EVER trying to make sure everyone come out of the system with the same packaging, same set of skills/ beliefss.../etc.
My sense of thigns in Singapore is that it is always a core group of people that really enterprises and are driven by ambitions, who really scrutinises the stock market/ the world economy/ government policies and stuff.
while the mass majority is trained and concerned with receiving information from the news passively and seeing things in a politically-correct way, hardly being critical/ even tries to make sense of those facts/ ideas proposed, and, you know.
Not like I'm that concerned about loads of stuff myself,
too lazy to be bothered.
but that's just what i observe lorrrrrrrrrrrrrs =Pp
Anyways
my basic idea is that,
it's impossible for businesses to thrive/ survive in the long run without tapping into information technology.
and with globalisation and an ever-freer world market,
now we are really truly pitted against one another in a level playing field of the entire world. maybe things haven't really gone that bad yet. but with the exponential rate of growth of the scheme of things, it wouldn't be long before the world become flat.
when that time comes,
no one can really enjoy job security with complacency and mediocracy.
i kind of forgot what the world is flat proposed, but i just kind of remembered it made a whole lost of sense. (BTW it was the top book for book of the year award 2006 by financial times neh! =Pp im gonna return to it, read it once more, when i stock up my knowledge on global phenomenons and stuff.)
we definitely need a broad-base education.
in an age of dynamic change, there is no permanent job. what any company does have an obligation to offer to its employeees, is constant training and stuff to impart skills to the individual so that he or she will be permanently EMPLOYABLE. yep this was one of the idea proposed in the book and i dun think it takes a genius to undertand that.
anyways, as countries like china india and russia enter the playing field,
and technology has enabled out-sourcing to other developing countries...
the contact between one group of people on this part of the world with another on some other continent entirely is going to proliferate, and this means that we need to be DIVERSE individuals, open-minded and receptive, in order to accomodate this change and find order in the midst of it all to pace ourselves.
okay basically my point is that diversity is crucial.
scientists should be able to demonstrate morality in meaningful dialogues,
people in the humanities should be able to practice the scientific method,
and stuff.
omg tis is so a GP essay or something. =Pp
globalisation rocks.
and i wanna b in the frontier, driving and pushing for ever accelerating flattening of the world.
glocalize.
witness the transformation of the world into one global village,
as we retain our differences, with a common identity as a global citizen so that we learn to appreciate all these that makes us unique, yet being able to relate to each other all the same at the same time.
but i guess,
the issue that must be most critically assesses in our current models of free market economy world-wide is the issue of the rich-poor gap.
when only market forces are in place,
effective demand can only be created when one has the abilities/ means to pay for a commodity.
so basically the needs of the poor is greatly compromised,
as the rich gets ever richer. you know, and stuff like that.
but i'm sure there must be ways to remedy this.
particularly, the fact that we are living in a knowlege economy stressed the importance of education, of breeding future leaders who would burst with ideas and act on them, start companies that would employ lots of people.
the beautiful thing abt economics is the fundamental concept of unlimited wants.
as long as we continue to grow and expand,
new wants are constantly created/ founded.
so what i think this world needs is truly people who can spot the latest trends/ envision possibilities and are able to construct something magnificent out of them.
i adore stanford.
because it's the perfect breeding environment to nurture these types of talent.
so we need entrepreneurs with a social conscience.
without entrepreneurs' risk-taking decisions, purchasing of capital, emopployment of labour...etc. well, we are simply not making the best out of the market economy and the 21st century edge.
since we have the market economy as the most ideal solution for efficient allocation of resources (in comparison to other systems...), i think we should always seek ways to treat its shortcomings from within. because any introduction of disturbances is just going to make things moe complex than necessary.
sky arh.
really pei4 fu2 myself for typing all these out as i just blog leh.
omgomg,
enjiao you rock.
enjiao you rock rock.
enjiao you rock rock rock. =Pp
reading the tipping point: how little things can make a big difference now.
kewl, by malcolm gladwell. whose blink was really interesting too.
but tipping point was particularly more fascinating to me. ((=
because the effects of social epidemics are simply too cool.
muahaha!
jiu
hmm
walked around bugis,
troubled over what to wear for be yourself day.
we were like switching from mac to mos to some tea hut until we finally decided on burger king..heex
jiuuu i seriously feel like slapping myself la.
i seriously feel that all the maths we've done so far are seriously easy,
the fact that it is not impossible to get super high near perfect scores because they are just so modelled after typical TYS questions and stuff. nothing tricky. standard workings, you dun even need understanding or twist your minds....
for instance there was this question on intersection of lines in the vectores test today,
it's like a give-away question.
but the fact is, i've been on strike from homework from i-forgot-when.
the only few questiosn i did from vectors was a few pity attempts in vectors 1.
afterwards i just kept on copying in lesson, with my mind on something else entirely as i copied word for word.
and then during lectures when i get really sleepy...
i've given up copying altogether sometimes.
so shitty lar.
i simply dun get why lectures+lessons never fails to hynoptize me.
i figure my method of learning is that,
i need to be talking and interacting with people to be stimulated.
cuz the mmt im listening 50% of the time sleepiness is just induced in meeeeee
i mean,
even if i wasnt the one talking,
i need a really interactive environment whereby everyone is free to voice themselves and does so actively to stay interested.
jiuuuuuuuuuu
smu is the only uni i've seen so far that really offers this kind of environment,
and done it really nicely.
whateverrr sia.
physics assignment undone (even those handed up were copied)
maths assignments copied
chemistry assignment undone (lazy to copy)
etc.etc...
i so seriously dunno what im coming to.. =X
i shall proclaim that my theory of bright-minds tend to b lazy really stands.
my argument is that,
because people with bright-minds grow up havin things easier than others, they learn faster, they can score higher marks with fewer effort put in in comparison to others, and stuff. there's no incentive to work hard.
however,
obviously a lil quick thinking is not sufficient to last you a lifetime.
that's why lots of child prodigies become more and more average as they grow up, i guess.
i mean, just look at people like thomas edison and albert einstein.
who's not the brightest of all people when young, and look where their determination and hard work took em and you get what i mean.
that's why i keep on telling myself
i should not let my cleverness become my liability =Pp
okie i know that was super bhb.
but i just feel that way.
my basic notion is that everyone should think of themselves positively, you know.
oh ya and
http://webcast.berkeley.edu/index.html rocks.
they have these video streams of these lectures in berkeley.
awesome. i watched one on introductiion to psychology.
neat
consider
a person commits suicide
psychological explanation would include:
cognitive
- beliefs, ideas, values
he believes that his life is worthless.
emotional
- feelings
he felt depressed.
motivational
-desires, wants,
he no longer wanted to live.
and things like how psychology forms the bridge between sociocultural and biophysical (bio something la...) explanatiomns.
hmm.
i so love knowledge.
knowledge is power!but until you act on it,the world shall remain the same. ((=
;rock YOU.
